Looking For A New SLR Camera?

How do You Choose the Best Digital SLR Cameras?

What is the best criteria for selecting and making a buying decision for a digital SLR camera? There are point 'n shoot cameras, and then there are SLR's; and the latter flatly gives you better, and more, features along with more options and choices for taking excellent photos. Yes, we know there are many to choose from, and if you're a beginner it can be a bit intimidating. We will be looking at some of the most important points to consider when choosing a digital SLR camera.

When you're researching possible digital SLR cameras, be very sure to take note of its maximum aperture. When you talk about aperture, what you're really referring to is how much light is allowed into the camera. The point about wide aperture pertains to faster shutter speeds and the ability to take good photographs of moving object. You've seen pictures of objects in motion that are blurred? (We all have.) Well, when you're working with maximum aperture SLR's, then you'll be able to remove the blur more effectively. Some people really appreciate those photos that have a softer-looking background effect, and that is another benefit of the maximum aperture spec. Wider maximum aperture digital SLR cameras are more expensive, as you can probably imagine since there is a higher functioning quality. Do you think you'll want to do a lot of photos with moving objects? If not, then the wide maximum aperture will be less of a concern. One simple feature regarding a digital SLR camera that is nonetheless very important to consider is its size. It seems there is a constant race to design and make the smallest possible electronic device. So many people now simply choose their cell phones for their photo taking needs. By today's standards, digital SLR cameras are fairly large, but they come in various sizes. You have to consider where you'll be taking your camera and what your comfort level is regarding a certain size of camera. You'll most likely buy from an offline store, maybe, and if so then think about the size and weight with regard to the amount of time you may have to carry it.

What, if any, special features do you need on your digital SLR camera? All the latest geek sounding feature names are out there; do you actually have to get them? While a camera with dust control can produce better quality photos, do you really need it? Some people, like pro photographers, need something for high contrast images, and there is a feature called enhanced dynamic range that will take care of that. Then there's Live View preview LCD, do you anticipate needing all of that "expensive" feature rich camera? You can learn much more about digital SLR cameras, and you really should if you are interested to buy one.

Which of these two telescopes seem to be the best for a beginner?

I found two telescopes, and I would like to know your opinion on which would be a better one to use for a beginner.

Here are the two I am looking into:

Barska 300 Power - 40070 Starwatcher Compact Refractor

Celestron PowerSeeker 60 Telescope

Here are the item details for each telescope:

Barska 300 Power - 40070 Starwatcher Compact Refractor:

70mm objective lens diameter
300x magnification power
2 interchangeable eyepieces and 3x Barlow lens
Refractor system with coated optics
5x24 finderscope for convenient viewing
Ideal for amateur and aspiring astronomers
Includes tabletop tripod, carrying case, and software

Celestron PowerSeeker 60 Telescope:

Ideal for novices and children
Sturdy refractor telescope design
50mm objective lens provides optimum light allowance
Alt-azimuth mount
Rack-and-pinion focusing
Includes tripod, accessory tray, & glow-in-the-dark stickers

Please let me know which seems best, thank you!

I wouldn't recommend either of these telescopes for anyone. They are both too small in size and too poorly made to be worth wasting any money on, basically cheap kid's toys. A better choice would be the Orion StarBlast:

If this is too much money, consider buying a good pair of 7x50 or 10x50 binoculars instead. These will be far more useful for astronomy than a cheap little refractor:
