PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY – THE GIFT OF MEMORY
Imagine being able to give someone the gift of memory. Can you remember details of your kids growing up? Do you look fondly at other people’s babies and try and dredge up memories of what your own were like when they were small? We get caught up in the busy routine of raising a family that we forget those precious times.
Portrait photography is a way of chrystalising those memories. It doesn’t stop the clock, but it can stop those moments from being lost in the mists of time.
A gift of a shoot with a professional portrait photographer is one of the most amazing gifts one could ever give (or receive). There are many things that cost a great deal more money, but mean a great deal less. Many material things go out of fashion, lose their appeal, break or get lost, but a gift of a memory is something to last forever.
Imagine how new parents would feel if they received a present of a photo shoot with the precious new arrival. New parents get very caught up in the momentum of the new arrival and those early days pass by so quickly that it’s easy to forget the realities. Happy snaps with the family digital camera are great, but there’s something so exceptional about a portrait photograph that seems to capture all the senses. There are some extraordinary portrait photographers in Perth whose work is so well done that it almost feels possible to smell that beautiful new ‘baby’ smell and feel their silky soft skin. What an amazing gift that would be. .
The gift of a portrait shoot also makes a fantastic gift for milestone birthdays and special anniversaries. Family photos are great but they’re really hard to get right. Someone’s eyes are shut, someone’s often pulling a face or moving, the background isn’t perfect or the colour of the clothing can clash. Lots can go wrong, so when the responsibility of capturing the family group in a perfect shot is handed to someone else – the results are fantastic.
Family portraits have come a long way from stiff, stern lifeless poses. Today’s portraits are generally more relaxed and candid. There are rules to portrait photography, but as some Perth photography experts say, these rules should be broken!. The use of props and creative lighting, changing the perspective, mixing up the composition and moving subjects out of their comfort zones can all create striking shots.
For a special occasion, a portrait photograph is a unique and remarkable gift. Have a thorough look at the websites of all the portrait photographer Perth websites and galleries before you make a decision. The relationship between client and photographer is important as it’s an intimate and personal journey. Check out the galleries on the websites to see whose work appeals to you. There are many techniques that photographers use, and it’s best to talk to them about what will suit your individual requirements and preferences best.
And it doesn’t have to be something that only happens once in a lifetime. The massive heirloom dominating the entrance hall is generally a thing of the past. It’s becoming increasingly popular to have many portraits taken during a life time that encapsulate those milestone moments.
As Charles Baudelaire is believed to have said over a century ago – “A portrait - what could be more simple and more complex, more obvious and more profound?”.
photographer/photography studio prop box?
Does anyone have any ideas of what i can put into a prop box for a photography studio and a photographer?
Take a look at Denny Mfg. They're a leader in props & backgrounds. Maybe you can get some ideas. I used to get ideas there & then make them myself.
