Simple Techniques to Banish Winter Blues
As autumn comes to an end and we move into the winter months many of us start to feel those old winter blues. Research has estimated that as many as 75% of us suffer from depression and fatigue during the winter months.
Luckily there are many simple steps that we can take to banish those winter blues.
More Light
Winter depression, winter blues or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) has been found to be caused by a lack of sunlight. It therefore makes complete sense to get as much daylight as possible.
If you work inside try to step outdoors at least once a day to get some exposure to daylight. Even when the winter weather is at its worst. Just wrap yourself up and get outside from some fresh air and exposure to daylight.
Another simple step is to replace all of the fluorescent lamps and halogen in your workplace with natural, full spectrum tubes and bulbs.
Positive Visualisation
Positive visualisation is an incredibly powerful technique that can profoundly influence the way we feel. Take a few minutes each day to close your eyes and imagine your whole body illuminated from the inside. Don't just imagine what it would look like, imagine how it feels. This simple technique can have an incredibly powerful effect.
Try to be More Active
We all become less active when the days get shorter and the weather turns wintery. Fight this inclination and actually increase your physical activity each day. Try adding some new exercises to your routine at the gym. If you go for walks then walk a little farther or faster. If you spend a lot of time on the road driving then try to get some exercise using a few isometric techniques when stationary in traffic.
Whatever your daily routine there is always a way to introduce a little more physical activity.

freshwater aquarium lighting?
i really want 24 hour lighting system for my freshwater tank, however everything i find is for salt water tanks. does anyone here know where i can get lights for a freshwater tank that would offer the daylights, blue lights AND led moon lights? and seperate on/off switches for all 3 kinds of lighting?
Try something like this one. The lighting spectrum is more tuned too freshwater tanks. The 6500-6700K range is better for plants and not as problematic with algae. And, it has all the other features you are looking for, There are others out there like this one , but this is a place too start.
