HEY, LET'S PARTY KIDS

Stuck for ideas for children's parties ?
Having a theme is always a great idea.Children can really 'live' the theme by dressing up, plus games and activities can be easily adapted to a theme too.Plus, with a little imagination and research, the party eats can be turned into themed goodies, such as spider biscuits for a Spiderman party or witches' brew for some Harry Potter magic.
And if you're considering a jumping castle hire (which is always a huge hit with the kids), there is a huge variety available and the whole party can be centred around the theme of the chosen castle.  From Ariel and Disney Princess to Harry and the Hogwarts, Batman, Superman, Shrek and even Spongebob – the range is huge.Always check the safety record and product quality of the bouncy castle hire company, and ensure all their inflatables are licenced products, not cheap imitations.Safety takes priority.
Thre's a huge number of different party games, but often the kids prefer the tried and trusted old favourites.Look on the internet for masses of ideas - and here are a couple to get you going. For example, if you're having a super hero party, the kids could pin the mask onto Batman. For a princess party, the girls could play pin the crown.Instead of 'Simon Says' - the central character of the party, eg Harry Potter could lead that game !
Candy towers
The game can be played in groups or individuals competing against each other.Distribute an equal number of toothpicks and some small, soft candies eg. jelly beans or mini marshmallows. The children create towers by joining the toothpicks together with the sweets. The tallest or largest construction wins.
Candy ring
Organise children to sit in a circle around a sheet.Sprinkle candy and some small gifts onto the sheet, and organise turns throwing a rubber ring over the treats - they can then claim their prize.
Balloon popper
Insert wrapped candy into balloons and inflate them. The more, the merrier.Get the kids to pop the balloons or stomp on them to get the candy. It's busy, noisy and lots of fun.  The kids love it.Don't let anyone miss out - so keep some extra prizes on hand to give out.
Ogther old favourites include blind man's buff, follow the leader, pin the tail on the donkey and pass the parcel.
If you're short on time or imagination, pre-prepared party games and accessories are available from novelty stores and some grocery stores.
Here are a few tips for the games:
* Give everyone a chance to be a winner. If you keep a bag of small prizes and candy handy, no-one will lose out.Young kids need some a helping hand with the concept of sportsmanship and it's important to make sure everyone has fun
* Be sensitive to the mood. Sometimes a game doesn’t go well, so move quickly to end it and start the next one.Find something to distract them with.
* Preparation is important.Keep all the games and prizes etc in a special box and make sure everyone understands the rules of the games
* Look for children who may be feeling left out of things
* Don't let games drag on
* Organise a mix of action games with more peaceful ones
These tips come from a leading Perth bouncy castle hire firm which has seen thousands of children’s parties along the way.  The best ones are undoubtedly those where the adults are thoroughly prepared and put in extra effort. It is a responsibility hosting a party, but childhood memories are made from them.  Let the games begin !
